The Meeting Renewed

A multi-panel comic explaining a Japanese creation myth. Izanami looks worried and says the child they created is an ill omen. A heavenly voice explains that the failure happened because the woman spoke first, and they must redo the ritual with the man speaking first. In a second attempt, Izanagi speaks first and Awaji Island is born. The final panels show the islands of Japan forming one after another, with a map of Japan labeled with major cities, while Izanami collapses in exhaustion after giving birth.

They brought forth the lands one after another.

The first child was Hiruko, who was born when the woman spoke to the man before he spoke to her.
Wondering why this happened, they turned to the heavenly deities for guidance.
The deities explained, “It should be the man who speaks first to the woman.”
So, Izanaki called out to Izanami, and together they began their meeting once more.
