”Kami” is a Japanese word referring to gods, spirits, and sacred presences in Japanese belief. The unit used to count Kami is “Hashira.”
Izanaki & Izanami (the first married couple of Japan)

The couple was unable to conceive successfully.
Husband Izanaki and wife Izanami, having descended upon Onogoro Island, built the Heavenly Pillar(Ame no Mihashira) and a great divine hall (Yahiro Dono)
They examined each other’s bodies and decided to join what was lacking with what was in excess, intending to create a land.
Izanagi circled the Heavenly Pillar to the left, while Izanami circled to the right, and it was the wife Izanami who first spoke to her husband.
Hiruko
And the children born were Hiruko and bubbles. Hiruko was a child without arms or legs. He was placed on a reed boat and cast adrift.
Because he had no bones like a leech and was physically impaired, he was regarded as a failure. However, shrines dedicated to Hiruko still exist today, and he later came to be worshiped as a Kami of prosperous business.

Kami on this site were character-designed and illustrated by Tokura Kura. Since the Kojiki contains no descriptions or illustrations of Kami’s physical appearances, they are depicted based on imagination.
